1394 TRADE ASSOCIATION PRESS RELEASE1394 Trade Association Issues New Technical Backgrounder on Applying FireWire in Long Haul Applications San Francisco, July 26, 2010 – The 1394 Trade Association today published a new technical backgrounder developed to help designers deploy the 1394 (FireWire) standard in long haul industrial equipment, vision systems, automotive networks and other applications. Entitled “IEEE 1394 Ideal for Long-Haul Automotive, Consumer, Industrial, Security and PC Applications,” the report was written by Les Baxter, a long-time member of the 1394 Trade Association and a consulting engineer for leading Fortune 500 companies. It includes detailed explanations of how to use FireWire for innovative designs without distance constraints, featuring details of what engineers need to know to reach distances of at least 10 meters or more using 1394.
